My name is Carole and I am a qualified veterinary nurse and pet behaviourist. I trained in a small animal hospital in Gateshead and attended a residential course at Berkshire College of Agriculture before qualifying in 1978. I then lived and worked in several busy practices in Birmingham before moving to Hereford in 1985. I joined Belmont Vets in 1987 just before our move from St Peters Square to Belmont Road.I now enjoy part-time employment as theatre manager where, as well as keeping theatre running smoothly, I also help teach the trainee nurses about all the various roles in theatre that I perform. These include anaesthetics, patient care, fluid therapy, blood sampling, theatre hygiene, radiography, dentistry and health and safety.I have always had an interest in dog training and animal behaviour and in October 2008 I passed an advanced diploma with the Centre of Applied Pet Ethology (COAPE) in “Practical Aspects of Companion Animal Behaviour and Training”. This is both interesting and challenging and I am pleased to be able to offer BVC this new service for their clients and, of course, their pets.
As well as my love of animals my other passions are gardening, which includes organic vegetable growing, which as a vegetarian is important to me, travelling and music.

Hi! My name is Heidi Young. I joined Belmont Veterinary Centre on 3rd June 1996, at the tender age of 19 and they haven't been able to get rid of me since! I began my training & qualified in the summer of 1999. I am now a senior registered veterinary nurse. I love my job and the team of staff that I work with. For as long as I can remember, I have always wanted to work with animals. With the dedication and hard work I made it happen. And now I am surrounded by cuddly animals that I can nurse & care for......and I get paid for it! When I am not at work, I am kept busy by my two children & our pet dog, Max. Because of them, I work part-time and my work involves the Cats Protection clinic and theatre. In any spare time that I manage to get, I enjoy running, reading, horse-riding, socialising with friends and spending time with my children.
